Irving Cardi by Maria Yarley

So thrilled to finally announce our latest collaboration with indie designer Maria Yarley of Elegant Economy Knits: The Irving Cardi!

Maria Yarley started designing knitting patterns after one too many futile searches for the perfect pattern. She derives her inspiration from the latest issue of Harper’s Bazaar, random sightings of beautiful colors and motifs, and the next event requiring the perfect custom knitwear. She loves the finer, fashionable things of life, but her full life with three young children keeps her thinking practically about what types of garments will be feasible to make and sensible to wear in day-to-day life.

This is the ultimate cardigan. It’s stylish, it’s feminine, it’s comfortable, it’s warm, and best of all, it’s easy to make. This is the perfect cardigan for a casual Saturday afternoon date. Wear it shopping, or on a long romantic walk around the lake. You’ll feel perfectly dressed for either occasion.

The simplicity of the lines and shaping, especially when made in a neutral color, make it a fantastic cardigan for accessorizing. This cardigan is knit in pieces in linen stitch. While it is a drop shoulder style, the shoulder shaping and the minimal sleeve ease make sure that it still has a flattering fit through the shoulder.
